The libraries in my Canadian city give users access to the ideaMILL which provides patrons will all sorts of equipment such as sewing machines, instruments, electric tools, recording booth, 3D printer, etc). My favourite thing is asking library staff for recommendations tailored to my interests.
some libraries let you borrow a wide variety of electronic devices from CD players to sewing machines to roku’s and the libraries of Chicago are heating centers on really cold weather days.
Library worker here: On Hoopla, there are NO WAITS! If the book + movie is on Hoopla, you get it automatically!
There's also another app called Boundless which function the same as hoopla + Libby, however, they don't have as many books and it's not the most user friendly BUT it is worth getting all three! Not many people use Boundless so sometimes popular books are available right away or the wait is not as long as it would be on Libby!
i work at a public library and my favorite thing about my job is getting to plan and host programs 🥰 some of our library branches also have makerspaces, where you can use sewing machines, Cricuts, and 3D printers for free!!
Haha well yes! I have a library card to my local library I was just wondering which one you photographed here- the design is really nice and calming! it looks like a European public library
Our library system is doing an event right now where you have to collect stamps from each library in the system and despite being a long time library lover, i’m learning so much about the perks I didn’t even know we had. One of our libraries has TONIES for rent, and my four year old is thrilled.
My library has digital museum passes, which gives access to museums for free or at a discount!
This is pretty cool!
Having fun isn’t hard when you got a library card! 🤓
100% agree
this makes me so happy to read as someone who works at a library! not enough people know about all these resources, especially libby !
I am happy I wrote this piece!
loved this! some libraries offer passes for arboretums/museums/zoos if your city has them :)
You are right! Will add this to the list <3
My library offers national park passes you can check out!
I have updated my piece and added this to the list, thank you so much for your comment!
My library lets you access Ancestry.com for free!! I know lots of others do too :-)

I recently went to a Valentine's Day Cursive Handwriting workshop at a library near me. It was so cute, fun, and FREE.
I love this! We need to see your creations <3

Where is this library?? Beautiful article about great resources!
There should be a library in your city, where you can get a free library card and access many different resources!

This is so amazing! I was thinking of working from a cafe today but this has inspired me to walk up the street to my local library :)
I hope you had a nice time working at the library Julia, I am going back this weekend to return my loans!
