28 mantras
Things I know to be true
In honor of my birthday last week, and because it has become a tradition, here are 28 things I learned in my previous year on earth.
Stop waiting for the opportunities and go create them yourself. Nobody is going to give you a seat at the table, you have to grab that chair.
You are never going to be 100% ready. Go for it, learn as you go, make it good later.
Disconnect often. Going offline is not a luxury, it’s a basic need in our times.
Say no more often. Resist the urge to over explain yourself.
Keep a diary.
Allow people to do nice things for you. Stop blocking abundance!
Nobody is thinking about you that much. Post your art. Share your music.
Join the cheapest gym near you.
You can decide to reinvent yourself a n y t i m e. Don’t be afraid to start from zero.
Don’t hesitate to invest in your education or in learning a new skill.
Celebrate your people.
Feedback is a gift, but you must to learn when to ask for it.
No such thing as guilty pleasures. Embrace the little freak in you.
Believing you can do it is half of the battle. That’s how men operate.
Find a community that aligns with your values and show up for them.
Move after a meal.
Are you having fun? Stop and ask yourself that often.
Write letters to your friends.
Never underestimate the power of a good outfit or a makeover to make you feel like yourself again.
You are still an artist even if you don’t live from your art.
Find your own idea of wealth early, and build a life that supports it.
The fancy shampoo is almost never worth it.
Ordering the non-alcoholic option without any explanations is sexy. You are not here to impress anybody.
It’s never too late for financial literacy. Talk about money with friends. Learn to budget. Invest.
Reading poetry is always a good idea.
Print your photos. Don’t let them get lost in the cloud.
If you don’t ask you won’t receive. Communicate your needs often.
Family can be chosen. Cutting ties with relatives is okay.
