Introducing a new space in the apartamento 710 world and giving you access to Studio Bulletin: a monthly column about my ever-growing collection of creative references. 𐙚 ‧₊˚ ⋅
A couple of weeks ago, I made a bulletin board for my studio, and the idea of starting this column sparked as I was pinning love notes, ephemera, and memorabilia to it.
Studio Bulletin will give you a close look at my process, behind the scenes of building apartamento 710, step-by-step of my most loved DIY projects, creative prompts and resources, and so much more. This first letter is available to all readers but moving forward, it will be a column for paid supporters of the newsletter. Can’t wait to open the doors to my studio and show you everything I’m pinning on my bulletin every month!
I'm also excited to get more creative with this format and express my love for mixed media by sharing digital and analog collages, my illustration work, and some of my favorite digital stationery.

The work of Mexican illustrator Silvana Ávila has been a big source of inspiration lately. The distinctive quality of her linework and her mix of materials really resonates with me, transporting me back to the Rookie and Tumblr era. I’ve reached out to her to see if she is open to sitting down with me for Sobremesa later this summer.

I’m challenging myself to work at a larger scale and create pieces with more volume, taking my sketches off the page and into tangible objects in the world. Paper mâché feels like an approachable place to start, and I have a few projects lined up as part of Creative Camp this summer.
Work of artist Leonor Violeta Birds build their nests by gathering small pieces of twigs, grasses, leaves, mud, guano (aka bird pop), moss, and even spider silk, layering and weaving each material together until it forms a strong and lightweight structure. The process reminds me to paper mâché! Collecting all the materials, adding them one piece at a time, and shaping something sturdy and unique by hand. Nature is always inspiring my creative practice.
I may or may not have shared this before, but I love collecting children’s books. Let me know if you ever want a tour! I mostly thrift them or buy one as a souvenir whenever I travel, but this month I treated myself and got Mei Mei the Bunny by musician Laufey. I’m in awe of her brain and creativity! She collaborated with artist Lauren O’Hara, who illustrated the entire book by hand using colored pencils and watercolors. It’s one of the most beautiful books in my collection.
