Over the past three weeks, the apartamento 710 community embarked on a fun challenge: make at least one creative thing every week of July. The goal? To use the summer energy and the encouragement of this group to get back into the creative flow and pick up an old hobby or finish a DIY project you’ve been putting off.
We only have one more week to go and I can’t wait to see what everyone makes as we finish the challenge.
Come join me for Creative Camp this summer
Creative Camp is a self-paced, month-long challenge where we’ll create four crafts alongside the apartmento 710 community. Each week throughout July, I’ll open a thread where we can check in, share our progress, and show what we’ve been working on.
Creative Camp: Week Three Recap
For the past three weeks, I’ve seen you experimenting with new and old creative practices, making things with your hands for loved ones, upcycling, using super cool materials and techniques, and sharing encouragement with others as we learn new things and share our findings in the chat.
I wont get all sentimental here (at least not today) but this is what I’ve always wanted apartamento 710 to be, and so much more.
Check out what everyone made during week three below. I hope it serves as inspiration if you’ve been wanting to make more things with your hands too!
Week three highlights and makers ⋆˚꩜。
Highlighting some makers and their creations for inspiration!
Cardboard chess set by Ceci:
“Found this chess board table on the curb one day and I’ve been waiting to populate it. Behold the cardboard chess set! Covered the black pieces in tissue paper! All an elaborate plan to get my crush to teach me how to play chess♟️ Future plan is to refinish the chess table cuz she’s crusty but for now, she’s rustic!”
Upcycling project by Yej:
”I’ve decided to flip some old company swag into a convertible top that i actually enjoy wearing outside because the material is AMAZING. This is just a v1 but I plan to add more buttons so I can wear it in significantly more ways than four”
Embroidery project by Rachelle:
“I was obseeeeessed with a onesie that I saw from an artist called papirbyhannah and I made one for a baby’s friend”
Binding by Mia:
“Continued to rebind one of my favorite childhood book series with some homemade book cloth (the thrift store bedding section hates to see me coming lol). It came out just how I envisioned!”
Final thoughts of the week 🎈
I’m truly honored to hold space for all this creativity! And I might sound like a broken record but never forget that making things with your hands it’s a rebellious act.
Can’t wait to see what everyone makes on the final week of camp. Use what you already have, borrow, thrift, or swap with a friend, and rely on the group for accountability. Happy crafting!
Like, repost, and share this with someone who might love it!
